Ireland Park : Ireland Park honours the Irish immigrants who fled during the Famine of 1847 and the 38,000 who arrived in Toronto that summer when the City's population was a mere 20,000. Ireland Park is a bridge that will link two nations and two cities. It is the story of a destitute people overcoming unimaginable hardship and suffering, and speaks to the kindness and generosity of Canadians, which is as consistent today as it was in 1847.

It is a reminder of the trauma of famine, which still exists in many parts of the world today. The failure of a harvest is an act of nature. Starvation is the result of our failure to respond with generosity to those who are hungry in our world today

Pride Week in Toronto is one of the largest Prides in the world, and one of the three largest Prides in North America. An integral part of Canada’s history as an open and diverse society, Pride week in Toronto is a one-of-a-kind event.

Pride Toronto has been in existence, in various forms, since the late 1970s and annually since 1981. Over the years, what began as a statement of the existence of lesbians and gays, has evolved into the inclusive and dynamic arts and culture festival it is today.

Shona Sculpture : One of the most extraordinary art forms to emerge on the international stage towards the end of the twentieth century was Zimbabwean sculpture, often termed Shona sculpture, named after the largest tribe engaged in this indigenous art movement. Zimbabwe – derived from the Shona word dzimbadzamabwe which means ‘house of stone' – is the only country on the African continent that has large deposits of stone suitable for sculpting.

Talking Stones Inc. is a premier gallery that specializes in hand-carved African sculptures for use in interior and landscape design. The sculptures included in the gallery’s extensive and carefully curated collection are carved from different stone varieties that are found in Zimbabwe. Many of the stones are unique to Zimbabwe or found in few other parts of the world.

Information about this Art, and about Talking Stones Inc. can be found here: http://www.talkingstones.ca (ph: 416 519-7673)

While all possible attempts have been made to name & credit the artwork and artists, some titles and names are unknown (to me). Any assistance to provide these names & titles would be appreciated.
