One of the most extraordinary art forms to emerge on the international stage towards the end of the twentieth century was Zimbabwean sculpture, often termed Shona sculpture, named after the largest tribe engaged in this indigenous art movement. Zimbabwe derived from the Shona word dzimbadzamabwe which means house of stone' is the only country on the African continent that has large deposits of stone suitable for sculpting.
Talking Stones Inc. is a premier gallery that specializes in hand-carved African sculptures for use in interior and landscape design. The sculptures included in the gallerys extensive and carefully curated collection are carved from different stone varieties that are found in Zimbabwe. Many of the stones are unique to Zimbabwe or found in few other parts of the world.
